About Us
Terrier Winds is a dream of ours.  My husband and I are true dog lovers!  We start out training German
Shepherds however when our female was 7 months old and stronger than an ox she dislocated my shoulder.
I still loved to train dogs, but now I help teach puppy kindergarten classes instead of work adult dogs.

Of course, I still have a weak spot to help a dog in need and occasionally we will rescue a dog and find it a
new home.  One of our rescues was an abused male German Shepherd.  We had him a year and half before
we had him socialized, and trained well enough to place in a home.  Around Thanksgiving 2005 we took in
unwanted Italian Greyhound for about 12 hours until we got him to the IG rescue.

Since I could no longer train large dogs we started to look for smaller dogs.  We fell in love with the Cairn
Terrier.  We loved their attitude, affection, and personalities.

We have two Cairn Terriers, Beamer and Elsie (above).  We had our first litter from this pair February of 2005.
Elsie has been a wonderful mom.  At two weeks all of the pups were well over a pound each.  When they
were born they all weighed about a half of a pound.  Elsie hated to leave them even for a minute.  Of course
as they became older she became more secure and would leave them for little bits of time so she could get
some extra love for herself.  Elsie is wonderful lap dog.  She may be small, but she can wrestle like a true
champ with Beamer.  Many a times she has Beamer pinned.

Elsie's show name is Elegante Sunrise Prairie Wind she weighs 12 pounds.  Beamer's show name is
Braveheart's Midnight Wind he weighs 16 pounds.

In October of 2006 we added Shadowland Rojo Caliente' Wind to our family.  She started showing in March
2007 and completed her Championship in November 2007 at the age of 17 months.

Elsie is officially retired from being a mom...even though she wants to nurse and love Callie's puppies.

Callie and Jester (CH. Esbee Riddle Me This) had puppies on 6/20/08.  We had 2 boys and 1 girl.  Tonka the
little girl was sold before she hit the ground to a couple who got an Elsie/Beamer puppy a year ago.  Brutus
now Gus is living in SW Kansas with his new family and Moe now Bentley is living here in Salina, KS. Bentley
is a wonderful boy.  I saw him a few weeks (December 2009) ago at the boarding kennel and he acted like he
remembered me.

In September 2009 we added Shadowland's Wicked Perfection Wind "Ziva."  Ziva is a half sister to Callie.
She fit in and got spoiled from the minute we picked her up from a handler who got her to OK City.  She
doesn't like getting into a crate much of course it would probably be due to the fact I was letting her sleep in
bed with me.  I had back surgery two weeks before getting her so I was spoiling her.

I do occasionally compete with Terrier Winds Ruby Red Slipper"Ruby"  in obedience and rally.  Ruby is a
daughter of Beamer and Elsie.  She has her Rally Novice title.

We sell puppies to loving and forever homes. If, however, you are unable to keep your
Cairn in the future we ask that you contact us.   We do not want any of puppies to end
up in a shelter or passed around from home to home.  We will be glad to accept any of
our puppies back to keep until we can find a home that will be suitable or placed in a
rescue organization.
